The Story of an Emblem Villa of Romania

The emotional story of a symbolic building: a visit to the ivy shade in the house of some heroes who do not appear in textbooks

On Dinicu Golescu Street in a welcoming courtyard, shaded by a thick ivy, stands a house symbol for what the resistance of the spirit means. It is the home of General Gheorghe Jitianu and his wife, Maria. A lady who, like her husband, was a fighter, and during communism, she managed to find the power to express herself freely. We will probably not find Maria Jitianu in school textbooks, but her story is worth telling.

A guide in the past of this house was Tudor Jitianu, the heir of the building, the one who continued the fighting tradition of the Jitianu family and who managed to recover the building built in 1915 by his great-grandfather Gheorghe Jitianu.
