1,000 Esop Partners Receive a Tree of the Future as a Gift

In the last 100 years, the forests in Romania have almost halved and now covers only about 27% of the country’s territory (below the average of 40%, as it is at the level of the European Union), absorbing less than 25% of the total atmospheric pollutants, products of modern life, according to Eurostat data. If it continues at this pace, the air will be hard to breathe, not only in the urban environment, at the office, but also throughout the country.

Compared to Romania, in Sweden (the country with the largest forest fund and forested areas in the European Union), forests absorb 84% of carbon dioxide. At the European Union level, the forest fund covers a total of 182 million hectares, of which about a third are in the territory of two countries – Sweden and Finland. In Romania, the total forested area is about 7.6 million hectares. 

The ESOP team believes that only by getting involved socially together will we be able to rectify this situation. Recalling the solemn words of King Michael I, “We borrowed Romania from our children,” ESOP Consulting team CORFAC International, participated in the campaign “Adopt a tree!” and financially supported the planting of 1,000 trees in Chirnogi village, on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

“We thank the ESOP partners for working together in recent years in the business environment. We hope that these 1,000 trees that we give to ESOP partners will represent a drop in an ocean of social responsibility and involvement in conserving the environment in which we live,” said Alexandru Petrescu, Managing Partner of ESOP Consulting CORFAC International.

Why 1,000 trees? Because this year ESOP has crossed the threshold of 1,000 partners with whom it has done business, in the last 16 years, the team decided to plant a tree for each partner, within the campaign “Adopt a tree!”, carried out by ViitorPlus. 

In this way, we want to contribute to the afforestation of degraded lands and increase air quality for all of us.

“Most companies choose to bring a sign of gratitude to all partners and collaborators at some point, although there are different ways to do this. The choice to increase Romania’s forested area by planting trees on their behalf is a commendable initiative with a real impact on the environment “, states the representatives of the ViitorPlus association, who carried out the “Adopt a tree!” campaign, to whom we thank for the logistical support provided for the purchase and planting of the 1,000 trees.

On Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Chirnogi, together with the ESOP team, volunteers from FedEx and ING were also in the planting area, in total, trees are planted on an area of 1.5 hectares of what for the next generation will be the forest curtain from Chirnogi village, Călărași county.
