Whether or not a file is approved for the security of buildings in a fire, dictates on the quality of the services provided by the specialists authorized by ISU said Alexandru Găvozdea, president of AOR (Order of Architects of Romania), at the conference Fire Safety of Buildings, at which an ESOP representative was also invited.
We have a market of economic operators, specialists certified by ISU, but their services differ depending on experience and professional training.
During the conference, Sarah Debbitche-Krichen, Manager of the Public Affairs Department of FireSafe Europe, said that a room catches fire on average in 3 minutes nowadays, due to modern materials and equipment the 1950s it lasted 25 minutes until it is engulfed in flames.
As a result, the laws, rules, and measures regarding fire protection must always be updated, keep up with these developments in technology, with innovation, all new materials need to be tested in this regard.
FireSafe Europe was founded in 2006 and since then has been fighting to improve the security of buildings by fire, through an exchange of experience at European level, the creation of a standard case study platform (FIRE Informations Exchange Platform) and the change of legislation, in three major directions: safe evacuation of buildings in case of danger, limiting the spread of fire and prevention.
In Romania, a coalition was established between Romanian Green Building Council, Efden, and EASA Romania, supported by FireSafe Europe, to improve the current legislation, informing the public and monitoring the application of the rules, according to Dorin Beu, president of the Romanian Green Building Council.
How safe is a school? Dorin Beu wondered. According to him, not only the new buildings but also the old buildings when they are enveloped or extended (following the toxicity of the materials when burning, the emergency exits, etc.) must be observed.
In the future, Directive no. 844/2018 on the Energy Performance of Buildings, which for the first time also includes rules on fire safety, will be implemented in Romania.
